Origin of Peace Symbol
Ever wonder about the origin of the Peace symbol? Let me share what I know...
The symbol was created by Gerald Holtom, a conscientious objector during World War II. It was created as the Nuclear Disarmament logo for the first Aldermaston March by the Direct Action Committee against Nuclear War in Easter of 1958. The design was a combination of letters of the flag semaphore alphabet for "D" and "N", standing for nuclear disarmament. Over time it became a general symbol for peace.
