Who Pooped?
One way scientists learn about animals is by studying their poop -- also called “scat” or"dung." Let’s look at some animal poop and see if you can guess who left it behind.

Even though he is 15th in the line of succession to the U.S. presidency, Energy Secretary Steven Chu still thinks he's a nerd.
In his commencement address at Harvard University on Thursday, the Nobel Prize-winning scientist admitted he may not be as exciting as previous speakers like Microsoft founder Bill Gates and "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling.
"Today, you have me. I am not a billionaire, but at least I am a nerd," Chu said at the beginning of his speech.

Day 8
Day eight of my nutritional cleanse adventure is drawing to a close!
Good news: I feel like the detox is working. I have even reluctantly accepted the idea of 'two almonds' as a delicious afternoon snack!
Fortunately, I have been feeling so well there has been little temptation to stray.
I have been feeling good about my ability to resist ... perhaps even a little cocky. That is ... until.... today.
Let's just say my *friends* at the office kicked it up a notch. In celebration of R- 's birthday there was a little get together in the kitchen with THE MOST DECADENT chocolate cake. I stood quietly off to the side, thinking of the delicious two almonds waiting at my desk - but no one was going to let me get off that easy.

Ha! I can not be foiled that easily! I got my handy dandy tupperware container ... scooped up a piece of cake and I am saving it for Saturday when we will enjoy a little post cleanse celebration.
One more day to go. Wish me luck!

- Helpful office mate drops off my favourite chips ... I take them home and put them in the cupboard for post cleanse.

Wrong Side Of The Tracks
Turns out I am working on the wrong side of the tracks. The other day I heard my colleagues talking smack about the neighbourhood my office is located in. Something to the effect that "Tippie's office is over in the junk yard". It is true that with tough times some of my neighbours have been foreclosed on or just walked away from their homes. I guess I just hadn't taken a good look around and realized the depth of decay.
Now that my eyes have been opened -- it is time to start restoring the neighbourhood to its' former glory.
First things first. We need an image change, an upscale neighbourhood needs and upscale address.
Let it be known ... I no longer reside in the middle of the "junk yard'. I am now a proud resident of the prestigious Aisle #1.
Ever since I returned from my 'six month vacation' - my nameplate has been MIA. True, it has been handy for staying 'under the radar' -but today, after over a year of invisibility, I decided it was time that my existence was acknowledged. In the interest of a green office - I re-cycled one of my neighbours abandoned name plates!
Well my neighbours' front yard is *still* full of abandoned computer monitors - but I think we are well on the road to gentrification!
Now that my eyes have been opened -- it is time to start restoring the neighbourhood to its' former glory.

The Elk Bridge
Portions of the Trans-Canada Highsway run through wilderness and agriculture land and were originally a single lane. In order to provide less disruption and avoid collisions between vehicles and large animals, Parks Canada has undertaken projects in areas such as Banff to twin some portions and install fences along both sides of the roadway, while creating overpasses/underpasses to allow safe passage.
The above picture is doing the e-mail circuit claiming to an elk overpass. Folks familiar with the area, however, say it is a CPR bridge.

Video ad by the Washington, D.C., transit authority encourages the faithful to ride The Metro during Pope's visit.
The U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference was less than pleased and asked that the advertisement be pulled.

Human Tetris
I have never been a big video gamer. The only video game I have ever owned is Pong. We would sit on the floor, mesmerized, and play for hours on our black and white TV. I guess that is dating myself.
One summer I worked as a short order cook in Wasaga Beach. The kitchen crew lived in the basement of the restaurant. Our big Friday night excitement was to make everyone a milkshake (we were allowed one a week) and compete at Pac Man. I always lost!

Groovy New Shoes
I gotta say I am feelin' pretty funky in my new shoes. I figured they would be a fun way of shining a little sunshine and bringing a smile to everyone's day.
I knew my groovy shoes were working when my heads down, serious, work work work colleague R- broke out laughing hysterically when she saw my colourful mis-matched shoes. I think our super intense, ultra serious, work environment needs more funky mis-matched shoes!

President's and Family Day
Happy President's Day!
I have to admit I am not really sure exactly what President's Day is all about. I think it originally had something to do with Washington or Lincoln's birthday and then became a general day to honour the President's. It is also a holiday in my home province of Ontario. Folks in Ontario are celebrating Family Day.
How should President's Day be celebrated? Ever wonder how many people call or send gifts to the President on his day? I generally celebrate (?!?) by doing my taxes. I figure that is my way of sending a gift to the President. I just wish it wasn't such a BIG present!
