Wildfires this fall didn't prevent the opening of the much-anticipated Hard Rock Hotel San Diego (www.hardrockhotelsd.com), a 420-room resort in the trendy Gaslamp quarter. The 12-story hotel includes a Nobu restaurant, two Rande Gerber bars, a spa and a Pinkberry frozen yogurt shop — all under one roof. Greasing the wheels is Virgin America, which is starting service between San Diego and San Francisco in February.


... and according to the Union Tribune we are also going to be getting a Pinkberry in Hillcrest!

Today I was up in L.A. so I swung by my Pinkberry in West Hollywood. It was my lucky day. Not only did I get served right away- but I had the coolest swirler. First, he greeted me with a big smile and an enthusiastic 'how are you?' - and then he sang "The Pinkberry Song" and danced as he swirled up my green tea treat!

I wonder should I get it plain,
or green tea?
It doesn't matter to me.
Don't care how long I have to wait.
I like it in the rain,
or in the wintertime,
like a burst of sunshine...

On my way back from Santa Barbara I decided to make a snack themed tour through some of the trendier areas of LA.

On my walk over, I am pretty sure I saw Wanda Sykes coming out of the Bohdi Tree Bookstore. With my snack theme for the trip, I had my sites on a different bookstore - Book Soup over on Sunset. It reminds me of The Different Drummer Bookstore in Burlington -- without the cats curled up in the corner!

With all the calories I saved at PinkBerry I decided to head over to Beverly Hills and splurge on some Sprinkles cupcakes.

Yes, you too can wait in line out on the street for over half an hour just to get into the store! By the time I had purchased my prized cupcakes it was already 4 pm. That meant I would spend the next 3 hours snaking my way through LA on the 405 parking lot. Looking back, I have to say the cupcakes were worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!
